Canoga Park Art Walk

I was really into Google Plus hangouts a few months ago. I did one every day for about a week. They were about 80% boring, but the 20% that was fun made it worth it and kept me coming back for a little while. In one of these hangouts, I met a San Fernando Valley based artist named Jose Castillo. He’s really nice, and makes cool art, most of which is portraits of celebrities created with date stamps. Pretty cool stuff.

Jose recently told me he would be showing some of his work at the Canoga Park Art Walk in July, and invited me to come check it out and meet him in real life. I loved the idea of both, so Gibran and I went there on Thursday. The main part was pretty tiny, only one block. There were about 5 galleries showing art on one side of the street, and some vendors along the sidewalk, including a henna artist. I almost got some henna on my hand, but someone jumped into the chair while I was getting my money ready and I didn’t feel like waiting around. The other side of the street was lined with food trucks, and there was a large space where various vendors were selling their wares. At the back of the vendor area, was a band playing some kind of music.

We liked a lot of the art. Some of my favorites were Krisztianna, and Andrew R. Ko. Gibran and I both liked Miranda Jo Buttons.

Of all the vendors, my personal favorite was Juarez Studio. They were selling prints and purses. I really liked the purses. When I got home, I looked them up and found out that they belonged to the same etsy team I spend the most time in, It’s a Madcap Life.

I am thinking about showing at the CPAW next month. Could be fun!
